GUILD STANDARDS

      1)   GUILD RULES

a)   RESPECT – Be respectful of others, especially fellow guild members, at all times. Those who are genuinely disrespectful toward other players will be dealt with harshly, as this behavior is counterproductive to the overall success of this or any guild. Furthermore, if a player chooses to leave the guild at any point, then all members shall respect that person’s decision and move on. Personally attacking another player, whether he/she be an active member of the guild or not, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated on any level whatsoever. Members who personally attack another member or former member of the guild will be warned at best and/or removed from the guild at worst. THIS GUILD HAS A STRICT “NO DRAMA” POLICY THAT WILL BE ENFORCED AT ALL TIMES. Should any player take up issue with another member, then he/she should speak with an Officer, who will then take steps to remedy the situation.

b)   RESPONSIBILITY – Fulfill your prescribed duties to the best of your abilities. This includes signing up for official raids in advance, arriving early to said raids with all of the necessary preparations in order (i.e. proper flasks and food, 100% durability on all items, etc.), and ensuring that you make the proper arrangements in your outside life to allow you to fulfill your obligations within the guild. Players who consistently demonstrate their reliability in this area will be promoted within the guild and given greater responsibility; those who fail to do so will be evaluated on an as-needed basis to determine their eligibility to remain in the guild.

c)   MATURITY – This guild was created for the sole purpose of providing players with a stable and supportive environment in which they can experience end-game content alongside good people. All members are expected to act accordingly and provide support to other members whenever and wherever possible.

On a related note, it should be mentioned that, while foul language and crude humor are employed on a regular basis in chat channels and Ventrilo, members are expected to develop an awareness of the feelings and sensitivity of those around them and adapt their behavior when needed so as to “keep the peace.” Again, if a member should take issue with another player’s behavior, then he/she should speak with an Officer.

      2)   GUILD STRUCTURE

The following system is used to rank players in Super Awesome Friends:

a)   “Pal” – Initiate (only applies to players in trial period)

b)   “Buddy” – Member

c)   “Friend” – Veteran

d)   “Best Friend” – Officer

e)   “BFF” – Vice Commander (Second-in-Command)

f)    “The Dude” – Guild Leader

The Officer positions in SAF are organized as follows:

a)   DKP OFFICER – This Officer shall track DKP earned and spent by all members, which is updated on the guild website. The DKP Officer shall also be in charge of managing the guild bank.

b)   ROLE LEADS There is a Role Lead Officer assigned to each of the three major player classes: DPS, Healing, and Tanking. Each Role Lead is responsible for leading players who fall into their respective category, both during raids and outside of raids. Should you have any questions regarding the gameplay of your class, ranging from responsibilities during specific raid boss encounters to your spell rotation and/or spec, please call on the appropriate Role Lead for help.

c)   VICE COMMANDERS The Vice Commanders (VC) are the direct support staff for the Guild Leader (GL); their goals are to assist the GL in whatever area or areas needed at any given time, and to work hand-in-hand with the GL in both developing and implementing guild policies and doctrine. Responsibilities could range from organizing raids to filling in for other officers to managing the website. The VCs shall act as GL whenever the latter is not present. (Note: The VCs and GL shall collectively be referred to as "The Triad.")

d)   GUILD LEADER The GL is ultimately in charge of all guild affairs, and is responsible for ensuring that the goals of the guild are being met within the scope of the Mission Statement and Guild Rules. The GL shall work hand-in-hand with the aforementioned Officers in planning events, recruiting new members, handling disciplinary issues, etc.

The following members fill the Officer positions:

a)   DKP Officer = Adresteia

b)   DPS Role Lead = Aranimus

c)   Healing Role Lead = Phorheals

d)   Tanking Lead = Grimdy

e)   Vice Commanders = Daigo and Adresteia

f)    Guild Leader = Grimdy

      3)   MEMBER PRIVILEGES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Only Officers are able to withdraw items from the guild bank. Officers will be in charge of distributing the proper flasks to raid members and providing Fish Feasts to entire raid parties if those items are available in the guild bank at that time. Additionally, Officers will be able to provide items from the guild bank to players on an as-needed basis—items could range from item upgrades to item enhancements to glyphs to profession mats. Guild members who act as tanks during “official” raids will be allowed to use money from the guild bank to foot their repair bills, but may do so only during or immediately following an “official” raid, and only if the tanks have fully repaired their tanking gear using their own funds prior to the start of the raid.

Members of Super Awesome Friends are expected to farm mats needed for flasks and food, as well as donate items that might be needed by players to enhance their gear, assist them in leveling their professions, or use in-game (e.g. potions, scrolls). There are no set requirements for how much players must contribute to the guild bank; however, members’ donation activity/history will be noted by Officers’ and addressed if deemed to be insufficient. Furthermore, players whose skill levels in the crafting and gathering areas are too low to enable them to donate materials that can be used to craft items applicable to raiding (i.e. items with high item level values) are expected to spend time leveling those skills so that they can eventually farm and contribute said mats. Please note that players may also donate money to the guild in lieu of actual mats; however, players will most likely find that farming mats for donation is preferable to donating money, as the amount of money needed to purchase most mats associated with raiding is quite large.

      4)   BECOMING A MEMBER

Players who wish to join Super Awesome Friends should first consult the guild website to determine whether or not the guild is currently recruiting players of his/her class. If there is indeed a need for players in that particular class, then he/she should submit an application on the website. If initially approved, the player will then be invited to join the guild as a “Pal,” and will thereafter begin a two-week trial period. Players will spend the duration of their trial period running Heroics and raids and thereafter will be evaluated to determine eligibility for promotion to “Buddy” (i.e. full member) in Super Awesome Friends.  “Pals” will not earn DKP during “official” raids, and will be last in line to roll on raid loot. Factors that are evaluated include the player’s skill level, learning curve, communication with the guild (especially during runs), and overall adherence to the guild standards. Following the evaluation period, the Officers, including the GL, will make a final determination as to whether or not that player shall become a member of Super Awesome Friends.

RAID STANDARDS

      1)   REQUIREMENTS

All players are required to have and use Ventrilo and at the very least be capable of hearing others on Vent. Ventrilo is a voice communication software application, and can be downloaded from the following site: http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php (download the Client program). All players are required to have the following add-ons: Deadly Boss Mods, Omen Threat Meter, and Recount. Members might also be required to have additional add-ons based on their respective classes—Role Leads should be consulted by new players to determine if additional add-ons are required of them. World of Warcraft add-ons can and should be downloaded from Curse:  www.curse.com. Members are also required to sign up for the guild website, as this will be players’ most important means of communicating with each other.

All players arriving to an “Official” raid (see below) are expected to have the proper food (at least a 20-stack), potions (at least 10), and flasks (at least 4; consult the appropriate Role Lead to determine what is considered “proper”), as well as 100% durability on all equipped items.

      2)   LOGISTICS

Raiding is the main focus of Super Awesome Friends’ activities. Raids are scheduled every week, and are intended not only to achieve specific goals, but also to give as many members as possible an opportunity to raid. Raid goals can range from attempting new raid content to gearing up members’ alts.

“Official” raids will be posted on the website and noted as being official on the in-game calendar (via invitation) at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time and ideally one raid week in advance (a raid week is considered to be Monday through Sunday). Players who want to join the raid and would like to reserve a space in advance should accept their invitation, but only if they are sure that they will be willing and able to arrive to the raid on-time and prepared to run. Players who would like to join the raid but are unsure about whether they will be able to arrive on time should not respond to the invitation; rather, they should log online before the scheduled start time if they are available and stand by to see if there are any openings in the raid. Being “on time” to a raid constitutes arriving at the appropriate meeting place outside of the raid instance at least ten minutes before the scheduled start time. If a player who signed up for a raid is not present at the ten-minute mark, then the raid group will proceed to seek out a replacement for that player, who will now be considered “late” to the raid. Should a player not be at the meeting place at the scheduled start time for an official raid and a replacement is available at that time, that player will be replaced and considered a “no-show.” Arriving to an official raid late or not arriving at all without contacting an Officer in advance of the scheduled start time can result in disciplinary action, and if such behavior becomes a pattern with a player, then that player may ultimately be removed from the guild. Furthermore, there are DKP bonuses and penalties assigned to players based on their attendance at official raids (see “LOOT/DKP” below). It should also be noted that the regularity of players’ attendance at official raids is duly noted by Officers, and is a major factor in determining what players shall constitute the guild’s core raiding group.

“Non-official” raids are those that are organized by members or non-members and are neither listed on the guild website nor noted as being “official” on their respective invitations. Attendance at these raids is never required by Super Awesome Friends, and DKP is not awarded to those in attendance. It should be noted that “official” raids shall always take precedence over “non-official” raids—players who attend a “non-official” raid in lieu of attending an “official” raid for which they were either available or needed, or who attend a “non-official” raid that locks them out from an “official” raid, will be disciplined.

“Official” raids shall have a scheduled time at which they are supposed to end; however, if the raid group appears to be “stuck” at a certain point during the run for a considerable amount of time, or experience some other unplanned setback, then the raid can be shortened by an Officer. Alternatively, if members of a raid group unanimously elect to do so, then the raid can progress through the scheduled end time and continue until any member wishes to go no further. Also, if a player is consistently underperforming during an “official” raid, then that player may be replaced by the Officers with another who is deemed to be more experienced and/or capable; however, this should only happen during runs where the focus on the guild’s raid progression overrides the focus on developing newer players’ skills by exposing them to end-game raid content.

Often times there will be more players signed up for a given raid than there are open spots for that run. Class balance is the first priority in creating an effective raid party—particular players will be chosen for the raid in order to achieve a class balance that will give the raid the best chance for success. Seniority is the second priority in organizing a raid—senior members will be chosen over newer members to fill particular spots unless the focus of the raid is suited more for newer players. Thirdly, players wishing to join the raid must be appropriately geared for the instance—people with mostly green or blue items should resort to running Heroics until they have mostly blue and some purple items before entering raids. Finally, players outside of the guild will be brought into an “official” raid only if: 1) there are no members online to fill an empty spot or spots in the raid, and 2) it is deemed that outside help must be called upon in order for the raid to succeed.

      3)   COMMUNICATION

Raids are lead by the highest-ranking officer present unless decided otherwise by the Officers. Players are expected to join the appropriate chat channels when in the raid so that they can communicate with their respective Role Lead. All players in the raid must be in Vent and at the minimum be able to hear the players talking in that channel. Recount data collected during a raid shall not be posted in raid, party, or guild chat channels. If a player in the raid does not have Recount yet wishes to see a statistic or statistics from the run, then they should communicate that desire to an Officer who will send the appropriate data to them via a whisper.

      4)   LOOT/DKP

All raids, both “official” and “non-official,” shall have a member designated as the Master Looter at the beginning—during “official” raids, this will always be an Officer. Only loot that drops during an “official” raid shall be awarded using the DKP system; “non-official” raid loot shall be awarded using raid-rolls.

DKP is awarded and taken away as follows:

a)   Players who are “on time” to a raid receive 25 DKP.

b)   Players who are “late” to a raid receive 15 DKP.

c)   Players who are a “no show” at a raid receive a <25 DKP> penalty (exceptions will be made only for reasons deemed acceptable by the Officers present).

d)   Players who have not signed up for a raid but are brought in to fill another person’s place will receive either 25 or 15 DKP, depending on whether the player is in the raid party for the entirety of the run or only part of it.

e)   Players who leave before the raid’s scheduled end receive a <10 DKP> penalty (exceptions will be made only for reasons deemed acceptable by the Officers present; does not apply to players who are brought in at the last minute to fill the spot of a person who signed up for the raid).

f)    The MVP of a given raid receives a 5 DKP bonus. Raid members vote for the MVP at the conclusion of a run by whispering their vote to the identified raid leader. In cases of a tie, each player who is tied in the voting shall receive a bonus.

g)   Players who are present for any scheduled guild meetings (posted on the website) receive 10 DKP.

h)   All members’ DKP will be subject to weekly “decay.” At the beginning of every week (i.e. Monday), each member’s DKP total will be reduced by 10% unless: 1) a player’s DKP total is either zero or negative, or 2) a 10% reduction would result in a negative DKP total for a player, in which case their DKP total will simply be brought to 0. This “DKP decay” is employed to prevent players from stockpiling DKP, prompting them to either “use it or lose it.”

DKP is expended according to the following guidelines:

a)   Every epic item that drops in an instance should be assessed by each player to determine if the item is an upgrade for him/her. Master Looters will post the loot items in raid chat with a note telling players to whom they should whisper their bids, as well as what classes (both actual class and raid class, e.g. DPS priest) are allowed to bid on the items for use with their main spec.

b)   Those players for whom the item is an upgrade with regard to their main spec are the first to bid.

c)   The minimum bid for a loot item is 25 DKP. This is also the maximum bid allowed for players who have no or negative DKP. Players who have more than 0 DKP may bid up to and including an amount that would bring their total DKP to <25 DKP>.

d)   The player with the highest DKP bid will be awarded the applicable item, and the amount of DKP bid will be deducted from that player’s total DKP. If two players bid the same amount of DKP, they will enter into a roll-off, and the player with the highest roll will win that bid and have their DKP bid amount deducted from their total DKP. If the only bidding players bid the minimum amount of DKP allowed (25), then any player(s) with 0 or negative DKP will automatically lose their chance to win that item if there are bidders with a DKP total greater than zero. If only one player bids on an item, then that player will still have their DKP bid amount deducted from their total DKP.

e)   If nobody bids on an item for their main spec, then the item will be re-offered to anyone for whom the item is an upgrade with regard to their current or non-current off-spec. Players will then enter into a roll-off, and the player with the highest roll will win that item and have 10 DKP deducted from their total DKP.

f)    Loot items not awarded to anyone during the bid offering periods will be disenchanted, and the resulting gem(s) will be deposited into the guild bank. If there are no disenchanters present, then the item will be offered to the entire raid party via a roll-off.

It should be noted that any guild member who is invited to join an “official” raid party after it has already begun will still be entitled to bid on all loot items that drop while they are present. When players outside of the guild are brought into an “official” raid at any point, loot will be awarded according to the following guidelines:

a)   If there are two or more guests in a 10-man raid party or four or more guests in a 25-man raid party, then loot items will be awarded by roll-offs whereby items are first offered to players for use with their main specs and thereafter offered to players for use with their off-specs. An SAF member who happens to win the roll-off for the main spec item will be awarded the item and also have 25 DKP (the minimum allowable bid for a main spec item) deducted from their total DKP. An SAF member who happens to win the roll-off for the off-spec item will be awarded the item and also have 10 DKP deducted from their total DKP.

b)   If there are fewer than two guests in a 10-man raid party or fewer than four guests in a 25-man raid party, then loot items will be awarded using the standard DKP guidelines with the following changes:

a.   Items will first be offered to SAF members for use with their main spec using the standard DKP bid system. If no SAF member places a bid on the item at this time, then the item will be offered to any guests for use with their main spec via a roll-off.

b.   If a loot item is not awarded to anyone during the initial main spec offering period, then the item will first be offered to SAF members for use with their off-spec using the standard DKP bid system, and then to any guests via a roll-off.

If you have any questions regarding the guild or raid standards, please contact an Officer via in-game chat or website e-mail. Thanks!
